Avery, Corbin, and Melanie took their learning beyond the classroom by partnering with the reptile experts at the Little Rock Zoo to design a custom hidey hole (reptile retreat) for their skinks. After launching the project with a Zoom interview, they visited the zoo to gather firsthand information about the skinks’ needs.
Using Tinkercad to create their design, collaborating in Google Docs, and 3D printing with a Bambu printer, the team brought their idea to life. Through teamwork, research, and problem-solving, these 5th graders engineered a thoughtful habitat feature that supports animal well-being.
