Need:

Ms. Sheagren works with clients who experience mental health challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, and depression. During counseling sessions, many clients benefit from using fidgets to keep their hands busy and help them stay focused and calm. Ms. Sheagren needed durable, meaningful fidgets that clients could use during sessions and take with them as a reminder of encouragement and support.

Solution:

EAST students met with their client to learn how fidgets support focus and emotional regulation. Students then designed custom fidgets using Tinkercad, incorporating simple movement and comfortable shapes that would be easy to use. The designs were produced using a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D printer. Each fidget includes the message “You Are Enough,” providing a positive affirmation that clients can keep with them beyond the counseling session.

Impact:

The EAST team produced and donated more than 100 fidgets for Ms. Sheagren’s clients. These tools help support focus and emotional regulation during therapy sessions while also providing a tangible reminder of encouragement. This project demonstrates how EAST students use technology, collaboration, and empathy to develop real-world solutions that positively impact their community.
