Names on Windows for First-Responders

Students worked with our RSO to make our building safer. Our RSO, Officer Woody, came to us with a problem: first-responders are not able to quickly enter our building in case of an emergency because our classrooms are not clearly labeled from the outside. Four EAST Students - Lainey, Mackenzie, Sam, and Braelynn - worked with him to design classroom numbers that were visible from the outside but also did not take away from the aesthetic of the building. These students researched types of vinyl to see which would stand up to the outside elements and last the longest. They then learned how to use the Silhouette and Silhouette Studio software; they measured window space and, through some trial and error, adhered the vinyl to classroom windows. If there is ever an emergency, first responders will now be able to accurately and quickly enter our school to get to the correct area.
