At our school, there is a long outside hallway with multiple smaller hallways with different classrooms in each. Unfortunately, there are no signs in the outside hall that tell people which classrooms are in each smaller hallway, and this causes people to not know which small hallway they need to go into. Many people do not realize how bad of an issue this is until they see all the new freshmen and substitutes getting lost in this hallway. So, I am making multiple signs for the doorways to each of the smaller halls that will inform anyone who walks by what teachers have their classrooms in there. Mr. Pinion, our principal, is my client, and he is also helping me with these signs by informing me on what style and designs he believes will make the signs match our school better. I am using the Glowforge to cut and engrave the signs, and I am using Inkscape for the graphic designing of each one. These signs are to help the incoming freshman, substitutes, and many other new people find their way to the class they need. Another EAST student, Terry, has helped by drilling the holes on each sign and cleaning up the edges. I have been working on this project since around the beginning of this school year and even in present time I am still in the process of making all the signs, but, once I’m finished, I’ll need to figure out how to hang them up on the brick. This project is unique because, although seeming like a simple task, it’s had so many issues with aesthetics and such that in the end it has taken me almost an entire year to even finish it.
