For over 113 years, the Conway Fire Department has been a pillar of safety and security in our community. At Quitman EAST, we recognized that these unsung heroes deserve greater recognition for their dedication and selfless service. In response, our team has embarked on an exciting project to create a professional documentary video that celebrates the vital work of the Conway Fire Department.
This project addresses the need to raise public awareness about the heroic efforts behind every call, whether it’s a routine training exercise or an emergency response. Our aim is to capture not only the dramatic moments of real emergencies—such as a car crash response and a nearby medical incident—but also the everyday commitment of firefighters who protect our community day in and day out. (Everyone was safe in the video as well as identities hidden for victims privacy)
To achieve this, our team of five is using cutting-edge technology, including the DJI RS3 Mini gimbal paired with two cameras—one featuring a wide-angle lens and another equipped with a Sigma lens—as well as a DJI phone gimbal. This setup allows us to record dynamic interviews, live action sequences, and detailed shots that convey both the intensity and the discipline of the department's operations.
In our documentary, viewers will experience firsthand accounts from the firefighters themselves, witness the intensity of an active fire alarm, and see training scenarios that simulate critical emergencies. These scenes are interwoven with candid moments from the department’s daily routines, showcasing how they prepare for and execute life-saving interventions. By integrating these elements, our project meets the CART framework—emphasizing Critical Thinking, problem solving, resource integration, and sophistication in both our technical approach and narrative storytelling.
Our collaboration with the Conway Fire Department has been key to this project’s success. The department has generously provided access to their facilities, allowed us to accompany them on live calls, and shared invaluable insights into their operations.
Currently, our project is in the editing phase. Our team is meticulously refining the footage using Adobe Premiere Pro to produce a polished and engaging final product.
This documentary is not only a technical and creative endeavor but also a heartfelt tribute to the Conway Fire Department. It showcases their heroic actions and everyday commitment to public safety.
