EAST students from Benton High School presented several projects to the Congressman, including an accessibility project that is currently being patented.
Last week, United States Congressman French Hill visited Benton High School to receive a tour of the school's EAST program. The back-to-back EAST Cornerstone Award winning group of students presented several projects to Hill, including the recently completed "Tru Hand" project.
The "Tru Hand" project addressed the need of a local veteran who suffers from tremors and Parkinson's Disease due to injuries suffered in battle by designing and 3D printing an adaptive grip to help the veteran complete simple tasks. Students utilized TinkerCAD to design the tool and their Bambu Lab 3D printers to make the solution a reality.
"These students are using advanced technology to solve real problems and give back to their community," Hill said in a social media post. "It was really impressive to see their work up close."
Hill says he will feature the project in an upcoming newsletter and will focus on how the invention is now being patented. Take a look at more pictures of Congressman Hill's visit at https://www.facebook.com/share/p/176i6Ua3fj/.
