Jodi Keith is the facilitator for EAST at Northeast Tech and was instrumental in bringing EAST to Oklahoma.
Originally a small-town teacher from Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Jodi Keith is a facilitator for Northeast Tech Claremore Campus’ very own EAST program. Jodi graduated high school from her hometown of Sallisaw, and earned a bachelor's degree from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR; EAST did not choose her, she chose EAST. Jodi was tasked with finding a new innovative program to bring to the Oklahoma CareerTech, where she was employed at the time. After going over a few options she and her team finally chose EAST. By choosing EAST, she became the first EAST facilitator in the state of Oklahoma. She has helped write all the curriculum, as well as has watched the program flourish into something wonderful.
In Jodi’s 12 years of teaching EAST, she has many fond memories. One of her really quiet kids from Sallisaw created the design that was selected to be displayed on a 6ft tall fiberglass horse statue that stands on the center lawn of the library. The design encompasses the history of the town and is very colorful and beautiful, and was painted by a local artist. A little while after the statue was installed, the local news station did a story about the horse statue and interviewed the student as a part of the story, this is one of many accomplishments that her classes have had.
Another such accomplishment was that students of hers made a marketing video for a rural hospital in Sallisaw. They worked hard to create a professional video for the hospital. When the project was over, the hospital administrator asked to visit the classroom and through tears, she thanked the project team for making their dream a reality. She said they would never have had the budget to support such a production and that they had been dreaming of having a video such as this for 10 years.
Flash forward to the present, Jodi is very excited to see what her new students will accomplish and how they will grow in a professional manner.
