Project Blurb:
Mrs. Idol wanted her Pre-K students to interact with older students, build confidence, and have a special keepsake to remember their Pre-K experience. EAST students partnered with Mrs. Idol’s class by spending time with the students, interviewing them, and learning about their personalities, ideas, and dreams. Using what they learned, the EAST students wrote and illustrated two original children’s books for the class: Mrs. Idol’s Class Can Change the World and The Colorful World of Us. The books celebrate creativity, kindness, individuality, and the importance of every child’s voice.
How it Fills CART:
This project fills a community need by creating meaningful connections between younger and older students while encouraging confidence, creativity, and self-expression in Pre-K students. The books provide a lasting memory for the children and help them see their ideas and stories as valuable and important. At the same time, the EAST students developed communication, collaboration, leadership, and service-learning skills through mentoring and creating a project that positively impacts others.Mrs
