Many people in our community are financially dependent on the tourism dollars during hunting seasons in November, December, and January. Families run lodges, wildlife processors and other hunting related businesses. For both local hunters and out-of-town guests, it can be difficult to know where all these businesses are located. It has impacted our prototype business because the processing moved to a new location and people were unable to find it, which made it more difficult to stay booked.
Students working on this project researched all hunting-related businesses for up-to-date locations, price lists, phone numbers and addresses. We then used Canva to make posters with up-to-date information. We will now research the rest of the county's businesses to build a website of all businesses for next year’s hunting season. We are able to use ArcGIS to map all the locations and make an app for an easy way to find all hunting-related businesses in DeWitt and the rest of Arkansas County. While other websites exist for this information, it is on all different websites, rather than one central location. We are hoping to have this ready by the end of this school year so it can be advertised for tourists booking his/her hunting trips for next winter.
