Problem: Claremore Police Department needed a creative way to help introduce their "Bumper Bear" project to the citizens of Claremore OK
CART Fulfillment:
>> CRITICAL THINKING - Students were tasked with helping develop creative ideas, designs, and materials to be used in introducing Bumper Bear to the community, then employ their art and software skills to develop marketing materials to be used by the Claremore Police Department.
>> ADVANCE - Students met with John Case from CPD to listen to his request for help. One student became the project manager for this project then also brought on a student team of artists to tackle creating 12 custom coloring pages representing 12 ethnically-themed holiday pages to be printed on coloring book paper and bound into a coloring book that the CPD could hand out to kids. Students who stepped up to help with this project met with John Case throughout the Fall as he occasionally had progress meetings with them to make sure forward progress was adequate to meet the needed deadline. Another student took on the task of designing and printing "Golden Tickets" for CPD's marketing department that could be used for a community scavenger hunt expertly designed to introduce the community to Bumper Bear. A third student created a bumper bear graphic then designed and produced custom Bumper Bear stickers for police officers to carry in their patrol cars.
>> REAL - Students partnered with John Case and the CPD Marketing Department to meet a need in our community.
>> TEAMWORK - Community Partner/Client John Case and the CPD Marketing Department, Several Northeast Tech EAST Students, One NT EAST Alumni and her Co-worker, and many businesses within our community who agreed to be a part of the community scavenger hunt.
This project is unique in that it enabled students to be a part of introducing the newest Claremore Police Dept. recruit, Bumper Bear, to our community. It helped students feel how important they can be in helping use their skills, knowledge, and creativity to tackle a real need for our community.
This project began in late October 2025 and was completed by December 1, 2025
