For Project Playtime, EAST students from Buffalo Island Central Junior High partnered with Play Time, the occupational and physical therapy company that serves our elementary school, to create a sensory room for special needs students.

They received a grant and ordered large equipment, but they asked us to help clean the room and create a calm space with the sensory items. We designed a mural in the Ibis paint x app, we dropped the background using the Bazaart app and placed it over the photo to show a mock up to our client for approval. We painted it with different textures for more sensory opportunities. The mural took several days to complete outside of our normal class time. We called these extra times “EAST PLUS”.

We were so pleased with how the mural turned out and I personally learned alot about ways to use technology to create a mural. We also had a slime day where we made slime with 3D printed trinkets to help strengthen the students fine motor skills. We made cards to show what trinkets were in the slime so they could search for each piece and know what they were looking for. We sewed soft plushies and created fidgets in TinkerCAD and 3D printed them using Bambu Studio for the space.
