This ARCGIS mapping project will explain food deserts, how they affect our health, and how they affect our community. It will also bring awareness to the struggles that many face while having to live in one of these such as not enough healthy food and having to drive for long periods of time to get to a grocery store, often without the help of public transportation.
It will include the most recent data on food deserts in Arkansas and charts to show how much of our population lives in food deserts. There will be a table to show the distance between the nearest grocery stores in Pine Bluff and the person working on this project, who lives in a food desert themselves. It will include interviews from an unknown resident of the area so other voices can be heard as well and hopefully inspire other people to take action and make a change in our communities.
