Our ‘Awards Digital Database’ project was designed to be used as a historical library of past accomplishments of students from Gentry High School. It also serves as a more convenient and modern method to do research about these awards from previous decades. There are currently over 300 trophies and plaques stored under the bleachers in the basketball gym that many people in the community have never seen, so we took pictures of each one and put them in our digital library with all relevant information for each. In total, we have over 600 documented awards in this database. This project filled the CART by using critical thinking as it required us to figure out what the different data categories should be for this library of awards. This project is advanced because we had to create a web page using an online platform called Notion in order to archive all of the different information we collected. This project is also very real since it provides our high school administration with the ability to easily share past accomplishments with all visitors and alumni. This project incorporated a lot of team work by requiring multiple students to work together in gathering the information and working together and putting it in the database. What makes this project unique is that it provides a highly detailed listing of awards covering multiple decades going back as far as 1932. It also includes photographs of each individual award. The community partners we worked with for this project were primarily the Gentry High School administration and the District itself. Our main point of contact was Mr. Justin Blanchard, the high school principal. However, our superintendent also helped by sending out social media posts and emails to the public about this ongoing project. This project started in August of 2024 and due to the nature of it, it will hopefully continue for many years to come.
