This project came about when students began to realize that many students engaged in a sedimentary life style. With the new flex scheduling at BHS, many students have free periods throughout the day. While this time would be a great time to study, most kids just found a corner to doze in or play on their phones for an hour and a half. Students in EAST decided to provide a few more options. Because we are nestled on the banks of the White River, the scenery and landscape is beautiful the students decided to make use of the land surrounding BHS. With fresh air and exercise in mind, students designed an 18 hole disc golf course and a hammock garden on the campus. The disc golf course winds around the treelined areas on campus and the hammock gardens are nestled under trees within eyeshot of the front doors of the building. Students used Archicad, virtual designer, google sketch up, rich GIS, Photoshop and any other tool necessary to create the landscape of the project for approval by the superintendent. Many meeting and adjustments had to take place to make sure all codes and laws were followed. Also, many client had to ge involved in order to sponsor the whole project.
