One-week camp to be held July 18-24, 2010.

High school students interested in careers in the mass media and media production may attend UALR’s School of Communication’s Media Production Camp for Arkansas High School Students July 18 to 24.

UALR,the Arkansas Broadcasters Association, and the Television Broadcasters of Arkansas are sponsoring 20 scholarships to the week-long camp.


Application deadline:  Scholarship applications must be received no later than 5:00 pm May 30, 2010.  Scholarship awards will be announced no later than June 1, 2010.   Note: application to the workshop also constitutes an application for one of up to 20 Television Broadcasters of Arkansas Scholarships that pays the full tuition for the camp.


Scholarship Criteria

1.)  Must be enrolled in an Arkansas high school and have Sophomore or Junior status.

2.)  Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

3.)  Must be enrolled in their school’s broadcast journalism, television broadcasting, 

       television production, or EAST program.

4.)  Submit a completed application form with the signature of your broadcasting teacher 

      or EAST Facilitator.

5.)  Must submit a brief essay (no more than 2 double-spaced pages no less than 1 page)

      describing why you are interested in broadcasting and media production. 

6.)  ** Optional (if available) Submit a brief video on DVD or VHS tape (no more than

      3 minutes long) example of your work.  It may be about anything but must be in good
