Paragould and Greene County have their first 3-D buildings on Google Earth, thanks to students.

Paragould High School EAST students have put Paragould and Greene County on the map. The Google Earth 3D map!

Many rural communities and small towns are not represented by Google Earth, the program that lets you fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean.

Students in the EAST program at Paragould High School have changed all that. Using the Google Sketchup application, they modeled a classroom and a greenhouse on their campus and submitted them to Google for approval. Both buildings were accepted and can now be found on Google Earth. Two more campus buildings have been submitted and the students have their eye on the town courthouse, a bigger challenge with its historic architecture and greater height. But EAST facilitator Mike Jadwin assures us that the students will rise to the challenge!

Jonesboro television station KAIT8 recently aired a news report on the project. For video, click here.
