Get the creative juices flowing this summer with hands-on filmmaking workshops.

Poetry in Motion is a new beginner's videography workshop that combines filmmaking and poetry to create a video poem!If you like poetry AND movies, think how much fun you'll have making a movie using the words of a poem. You and your filmmaking team will pick a poem (or write your own), then decide what moving images, sound, and music you'll use to communicate the meaning and feeling of the written words. Your video poem will be shown at the T Tauri Film Festival Finale Screening on Saturday, July 31, 2010. Final Cut Pro 100 introduces the concepts of nonlinear editing using the video editing software preferred by Indie filmmakers the world over. This two-day, hands-on course will introduce you to the primary feature set and basic interface of Final Cut Pro. You'll learn to perform basic editing functions while familiarizing yourself with the user interface. Topics include basic setup, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming techniques, finishing and final output. FCP100 is open to students up to 21 years of age, who have video editing experience and/or have participated in the T Tauri Movie Camp Script to Screen workshop. The T Tauri Film Festival and Movie Camp is the youth division of Ozark Foothills FilmFest, Inc., a rural educational non-profit organization dedicated to excellence and accessibility in the media arts. The primary program of the organization's youth division is an annual summer event that combines a national, peer-judged young filmmakers competition, public screenings of youth-produced films, and filmmaking workshops in a variety of areas. The annual "movie camp" is one of a very small number of youth media training programs operating in rural America.

In addition to the annual summer event, T Tauri partners with other non-profit organizations to offer fillmmaking instructional workshops for their youth constituencies. Collaborations include an academic-year documentary workshop with the Lyon College APPLE Project and a summer camp workshop for teens with family members serving in the military with Arkansas 4-H and the national initiative, Operation Military Kids.

"T Tauri" takes its name from the astronomer's term for a new star.
