On November 14, 2007 Cowboy EAST at Southwood High School in Shreveport, Louisiana was recognized at the 16th Annual National Philanthropy Day Luncheon sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Because of their numerous public service endeavors they were awarded the "Outstanding Young Leaders Award".  The Cowboy EAST has performed over 500 hours of community service at the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter, The Shreveport Green community renewal program, The Chimp Haven chimpanzee rehabilitation center,  The Gingerbread house for abused women and children, Shiners’ Hospital for Children and many others. This is not an annual award; it is only given out when a suitable candidate appears, and the work that EAST students have done in and around Shreveport shone enough to garner the attention of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, who sponsored the luncheon. We are very thankful to the Association for the recognition and we are glad that we were able to represent EAST in such an important event.
