Dardanelle HS EAST students use SketchUp to create animated 3D renderings of building layouts for use in case of catastrophe.

Sketchup Used to Assist Dardanelle Police Training

The Dardanelle High School EAST SketchUp Team Seth, Domingo, Dalton, Dillon, Brandon, Dustin, and Austin recently presented school building animations to Dardanelle Police Officer Lonnie Moore. Officer Moore is in the development stages of creating police training for the local force.

The animations, which are a series of building renderings from different angles, provide a “virtual tour”, which would be beneficial to police officers in case of a catastrophic event. By taking measurements of the buildings or using building floor plans, animations were created of the primary building, elementary school building, middle school building, JROTC/ALE portable building, EAST/Drama portable building, the high school gym and the high school building.

The animations created walking circles around each building and moved to the top for an overall bird’s-eye view of the layout of each building. Officer Moore is excited about having these products and feels they will be a huge benefit to the local officers to help them understand our buildings.
