Roberts Elementary EAST students use tech skills to support global community service in “Give Change to Make a Change” campaign.

EAST students at Dr. Don R. Roberts Elementary, Little Rock, recently sponsored a project entitled “Give Change to Make a Change” to raise money for the earthquake/tsunami relief efforts in Japan.

The students created posters using Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint and created morning announcements to update the school each day on their fundraising efforts. Students also explored websites about the earthquake and tsunami and discovered ways their money could be used.

Each class competed to see who could raise the most money. Mrs. K. Lindsey's 4th grade class raised the most money and received a popcorn party by collecting $204. Students delivered each class’s contribution to BancorpSouth, who counted the money.

Bridgett Williams of the American Red Cross, accepted a check for a total of $2942.02 from the Roberts EAST students.
