Students serve community and use technology skills to honor vets.

The Nettleton High School Environmental and Spatial Technology Classes, Student Council, and NHS History Club hosted the annual Veterans Day assembly on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Performing Arts Center on the Nettleton High School campus.

The veteran guests arrived at 10:00 for a reception in the Performing Arts Center and then attended the program which began at 10:30. Vietnam veteran Mr. Rich Carvell was the guest speaker for the program. All veterans, their friends, and families, and the general public were invited to attend. Each veteran in attendance was recognized during a "Parade of Veterans" on stage during the assembly. Each veteran's name, branch of service, and dates served were announced.

EAST students conducted several interviews of military personnel that were videotaped and edited in Final Cut Pro and presented at the assembly. Invitations were created in Photoshop and were mailed and sent electronically to our guests. Students used Microsoft Publisher to create programs for the event. They also used applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Publisher, PowerPoint and Fireworks to create Veterans Day posters for display during the reception.

The local newspaper and television station were contacted and were there to cover the event.
