Mena EAST Students Celebrate GIS Day

Mena High School and Middle School EAST students travelled to Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith to attend a GIS Day event. Several Other EAST schools were in attendance.

On Wednesday November 17, the Arkansas River Valley GIS Association Hosted a GIS Day event at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith. Thirteen students from the Mena High School EAST program and three from the Mena Middle School EAST program attended the event.

Students on the GIS team entered three maps into the mapping competition. High School EAST students Joby, Tyler, and Quest were awarded a second place trophy for their map of the trails of Queen Wilhelmina State Park.

In addition to the map contest the students participated in a GIS map workshop as well as a geocache event.
