Haunted Halloween Geocache is family-friendly, educational.

Fouke EAST students invited the entire community to a Haunted Halloween Geocache on October 30th, 2010.  This unique, family-friendly Halloween activity provided an opportunity for Fouke EAST students to share their GPS knowledge with the community and provide a safe Halloween alternative for local families.

A geocache is a high-tech treasure hunt using longitude and latitude and a hand-held GPS device.  Fouke EAST students, Carissa Beasley, Sydney Lafayette, Bailey Cravens and Emily Conway, recently returned from GPS training at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where they learned how to use GPS equipment and software.  The Halloween Geocache project team created a multi-step geocache for participants to complete at the event.

The geocache took approximately 30 minutes to complete and was open from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on Saturday, October 30th.  Participants began in the Paulette Smith Middle School with registration and a mini-lesson in geocaching.  This was a FREE event sponsored by Fouke EAST.  For more information, email or visit the Fouke EAST website at
