EAST Promotional Video a Student Success

Student-created video is valuable tool for explaining and promoting EAST.

The new EAST promotional video, Education is Different Here, would not exist without the skills and contributions of EAST students. It is also the result of teamwork, one of the “EAST essentials”, (along with self-direction, service and technology).

The bulk of the video was taped during the 2010 EAST Conference by a student video team that was also creating a conference highlights video at the same time. The team worked under the direction of Steve Taylor, Film & Video Instructor at SAU Tech in Camden, Arkansas, from a script put together by EAST Initiative staff. Students conducted interviews of EAST supporters, students and facilitators by appointment in a  private interview room in the convention center. in the months following Conference additional segments were taped on location, the footage was edited and titles and graphics added.

The video is a valuable promotional/informational tool for the EAST Initiative and for local EAST programs. It describes the EAST model of education and why it is important — both for students and for the community — from many points of view, including students and facilitators, corporate supporters, EAST Initiative staff and Arkansas Department of Education officials.

Video documentation team members were:

George Hudson, Video Editor, Har-Ber High School

C.J. Bramlette, Photographer/Asst. Video Editor, Rose Bud High School

Clark Holt, Videographer/Asst. Video Editor, Lakeside High School

Tevin Wooten, Videographer/Asst. Video Edito, Camden Fairview High School

Mayowa Awopetu, Video Talent, Watson Chapel High School

A huge thank-you to all involved!
