Craighead County Mitigation Plan: Nettleton Junior High School

Project Goal – What is the outcome/deliverable?:

Students have created (and are still creating ) a series of maps of each Nettleton campus that identifies the location of fire doors, hazmat, HVAC, electric cut off, and internet network hubs. They also have created maps that show emergency procedure routes for each Nettleton school campus.

Purpose of Project – Who is the project helping and what is the project about?:

The purpose of this project is to assist the David Moore of the Craighead County Emergency Management Office and Jeff Presley, Director of 911, in updating the county's mitigation plan by providing emergency procedures and a detailed map for each Nettleton school buildings.

Future Plans:

The students plan to finalize all the maps they have created and share them with Rusty McAllister, Jonesboro GIS Coordinator, who will then push them out to local police, fire, and first responders. They are also plan to provide maps for other locations needed for the Craighead Co Mitigation Plan.

Additional Information:

NJHS EAST students working on this project completed the EAST-CAST online GIS Mapping training. They have had to use a variety or resources to create the maps-including contacting CAST Robin Dennis, Malcolm Williamson; ESRI-Charlie Fitzpatrick, and other on-line resources.
