Project Goal – What is the outcome/deliverable?:

The final product of this project will be a procedure in place for all school districts in the state regarding tornado safety when traveling on a bus. We also plan to create a training video for all bus drivers and students to view yearly. Our goal is to make this mandatory state wide

Purpose of Project – Who is the project helping and what is the project about?:

The purpose of this project is to keep students and facilitators safe while traveling on school related activities during severe weather.

Future Plans:

Our future intention is to get our plan into school's transportation departments. We also are planning to create a training video to display to bus drivers and chaperones that are on out of district trips. We want this in every school in the state.

Additional Information:

The main problem we noticed was there wasn't a way for school bus drivers to be notified of severe weather when traveling out of the state. Also parents were not notified when regarding the severe weather. We have researched weather apps and communication apps. Part of the procedure we have created includes getting these apps on school busses that travel out of the district. We will also be creating a training video and working with our local bus safety manager with the state on getting this video into mandatory training. We have been in contact with our local Emergency Management officer as well as the state wide Emergency Management department in hopes of making this a mandatory training for all school districts.
