Pine Ridge Gardens previously lacked a modern, functional website capable of effectively supporting its business operations. Although an earlier site existed, it was built on outdated software requiring manual coding, which posed challenges for updates, maintenance, and efficient use. This hindered the company's online presence and created unnecessary obstacles for customer communication and product management.
The objective of this project was to redesign and rebuild the Pine Ridge Gardens website utilizing a contemporary, user-friendly platform. By developing a new site integrated directly with the owner’s Square account, the website facilitates easier product access, enhances customer engagement, and strengthens the company's online visibility. This approach addresses the essential need for small businesses to maintain accessible and functional websites aligned with current digital standards.
The primary audience includes both current and prospective customers of Pine Ridge Gardens, as well as the business owner, Brent Baker, who requires a site that is straightforward to manage independently. Additionally, this project served as an educational opportunity for the creators, allowing them to apply advancements in computer science, communication skills, business and marketing strategies, and critical thinking.
Key design and technical decisions included selecting Weebly for its intuitive drag-and-drop interface and its ease of long-term maintenance. What sets this project apart is that it is the only initiative within Dardanelle focused on developing a completely new, sustainable website for this business, complemented by instructional videos that teach the owner fundamental website management skills. The project commenced at the end of the 2024–2025 school year and is scheduled for completion by the conclusion of this school year.

Use of audio and visual multimedia was instrumental in enhancing both the website’s functionality and the project's long-term sustainability. Visually, the site features high-quality images of Pine Ridge Gardens’ plants, products, and nursery layout, creating a professional and engaging online presence. These visuals aid in attracting customers, showcasing available inventory, and effectively communicating the business's offerings without requiring an in-person visit. The design also incorporates consistent color schemes, legible fonts, and an organized layout to improve user experience and reflect the nursery’s natural, welcoming atmosphere.
Multimedia elements further supported the business owner post-launch by providing instructional videos that demonstrate fundamental website maintenance tasks, such as updating product details, changing images, and managing content via Weebly’s drag-and-drop interface. These videos include audio explanations to guide the owner step-by-step, reducing reliance on technical assistance.
Moreover, integration with Square offers a seamless and interactive shopping experience for customers, enabling easy viewing of products and access to purchasing tools. Overall, the strategic use of audio and visual multimedia enhanced communication, increased user engagement, and empowered the owner to maintain the website independently, contributing to the project’s effectiveness and sustainability.
