The Wynne’s Winter Wonderland Walk project was created to address the lack of large-scale, family-friendly holiday events in downtown Wynne, Arkansas. While the community has a strong sense of pride, there were limited opportunities for residents to gather and celebrate together during the Christmas season. This project aimed to bring people together, support local businesses, and create a festive tradition for the community.

The event officially took place on December 6th and transformed downtown Wynne into a winter-themed experience. The Wonderland Walk featured decorated storefronts, holiday lights, interactive stations, and activities for families. Community members were encouraged to walk through downtown, visit different locations, and participate in the festive atmosphere. The event successfully brought in a large crowd and created a welcoming environment for people of all ages.

Technology played an important role in the success of this project. Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook were used to promote the event, share updates, and engage the community leading up to December 6th. Canva was used to design flyers, sponsorship packets, and digital advertisements. Email and digital communication tools were used to connect with sponsors, organize volunteers, and coordinate with local businesses.

This project aligns with the EAST initiative and fulfills the CART framework. It served the community by providing a free, inclusive holiday event that encouraged togetherness. The project was authentic because it addressed a real need within Wynne. It incorporated real-world skills such as event planning, marketing, communication, and fundraising. Technology was integrated throughout the entire process, from promotion to organization.

What makes the Wonderland Walk unique is its immersive, walk-through experience. Instead of a single activity or event, participants explored multiple stops throughout downtown, each offering something different. This created a more engaging and interactive environment while also increasing visibility and foot traffic for local businesses. Additionally, the project stands out because it was student-led, demonstrating leadership and initiative in creating a meaningful community impact.

Community partners played a major role in the success of the event. Downtown Revitalization served as the primary community partner by helping coordinate with local businesses, support event planning efforts, and promote downtown involvement. Local business owners participated by decorating storefronts, hosting stations, and engaging with attendees throughout the event.

The project was developed over the course of 2025 and reached completion with the successful execution of the event on December 6th. Planning included outreach to sponsors, coordination with community partners, marketing efforts, and organizing event details.

The event was promoted on social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook. Posts and graphics were used to share event information and build excitement within the community.

Overall, the Wynne’s Winter Wonderland Walk was a successful project that demonstrated creativity, leadership, and dedication to the community. It brought people together during the holiday season, supported local businesses, and created a memorable experience for attendees. This project shows how student-driven initiatives can make a lasting impact and establish meaningful traditions within a community.
