Elsie wanted to design a fidget that could be concealed but yet functional to help people find a healthy outlet for their anxiety. Some people avoid the use of fidgets as they can draw unwanted attention, distract others and even lead to social stigma. To solve this, Elsie designed these sensory strips that attach to the inside of clothing via magnets to help conceal them. Elsie identified a real problem beyond the surface: fidgets are functional, but social barriers prevent their use. This design moves the field forward by innovating a new approach while using a 3d printed model. This project addresses a real world problem with many teens face anxiety. Elsie used information and input from her fellow classmates on the type of design to use. This project is unique because not many fidgets are designed to be hidden while in use.
