The Introduction to GIS course will start at the ground level of GIS quickly advancing to some of the powerful analytical tools available. Day one will focus on ArcMap focussing on symbology, layout, and geoprocessing. Day two will move to the web with a focus on ArcGIS.com working with data, symbology, sharing, publishing and creating a story map. Students will leave with a broad understanding of the concepts of GIS, the capacities of ArcMAP and online tools, and a general foundation for typical GIS projects. Note that this is an intro level course. This course also fills the prerequisite for the Why of Where series offered by CAST.
