Centerpoint EAST receives $20,000 Grant Posted on Jan 15, 2007 at 3:23 PM

Centerpoint High School EAST Lab instructors Buddy Maxey and Nic Mounts announced recently that the CHS EAST Lab was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Olds Foundation in Amity. The money will be used to update the lab's aging computers and to buy new software for the lab.

Today's THV and the Arkansas Department of Economic Development presented a one-hour prime time television special at 9pm on Tuesday, December 5th. This special focused on the high technology and knowledge-based jobs Arkansas needs to improve and expand for future success.

Clarksville High School was one of 15 Arkansas schools selected to receive a $1,000 Stamp Out Smoking grant. The students will create a video depicting what students think about second hand smoke.

Eureka Springs High School EAST Program Facilitator Mila Lynne Floro-Powell met with Japanese educators at the “Learning GIS” workshop hosted by the ESRI-Japan office in Tokyo, Japan. Mrs. Floro-Powell was in Tokyo as a participant in the JFMF Teacher Program that hosted distinguished American primary and secondary school educators.

Mansfield H.S. is one of 25 schools nationwide selected to participate in this year's program. Mansfield was the only high school in Arkansas with a winning service project proposal. These students have earned a $2,000 grant to create a public awareness, safe driving campaign as part of Project Ignition.
