The Prairie Grove High School and Middle School EAST programs were approached by the police department at the beginning of the school year to create a very detailed map of each building within the school district.

The Prairie Grove High School and Middle School EAST programs were approached by the police department at the beginning of the school year to create a very detailed map of each building within the school district. Map criteria needed to include a building floor plan, teacher classrooms and workspaces, hallways, closets, location of heating and cooling units, cafeteria space, ceiling height, and even which way that every door swung open so that emergency personnel could act accordingly if an emergency situation arose in one of the school district buildings.

Officer Jeff O'Brien worked hand in hand with High School EAST students Brandon T. and Caleb S. and with Middle School EAST student Abby P. as they walked the halls and perimeters of every building within the school district to insure that every detail on their respected maps were accurate and to scale. "You hope that you never need a map like this, but if the situation arises, we will be prepared and ready for action" commented Officer O'Brien when the maps were printed for the department.

Officer O'Brien, with the help of Brandon, Caleb, and Abby, has created a training notebook, along with a training wall in the police station, which includes all of the maps of the school district. His job is to train every officer on the force about the location of every building on our very spread out campus and collectively, the officers come up with mock strategies of how to enter our buildings if an emergency situation arises. Our school, staff, and students are much safer because of the ArchiCAD maps that were created from the two EAST programs, and we thank Brandon, Caleb, and Abby for their hard work and their dedication to the completion of this very important project.
