Since the beginning of their program two years ago, PGMS EAST students have initiated a school-wide recycling program that now has spread throughout the city.

Prairie Grove city works director, Larry Oelrich has been so impressed with the EAST program and their recycling efforts, that he asked EAST students to help him write a grant to purchase new recycling materials for the entire school district.  After a meeting session at the end of last school year and a district poll asking what recycling materials were needed, the grant was submitted for acceptance.

Our program received word from Mr. Oelrich this past week that the entire grant was awarded to the City of Prairie Grove and $10,000 worth of recycling materials and equiptment will be distributed to every building in the PG school district. Pictured are Jacob D. and Jaelyn K. as they weigh and record recycled materials collected from classroom recycling bins.
