The EAST website has a new, fresh look and added functionality. The new site refocuses EAST’s attention on the most important end-users - the EAST students - by placing the tools they most often need, such as the Project Toolkit and the Forums, up front where they can get to them quickly.

The EAST website has a new, fresh look and added functionality.

The EAST website has always offered a lot of useful features, but because these new features were often added on top of, rather than being integrated into the overall design of the site, it was becoming more and more cumbersome to use. Now, these features have been successfully woven into the design of the site, and we hope this will make navigation much easier!

EAST was very lucky to add a talented former EAST student and UALR EAST scholar to the staff. “Jeremy Kratz is an extremely talented web developer and came with many insights, having been a user of our site for several years,” said Bill Dirst, EAST Communications Director. “He played the key role in this collaborative effort among members of EAST staff and the staff at CAST (Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies).”

Several new features have been added to the new site with many more to come. For instance, look for even more improvements to the new School Locator feature with routing and other mapping tools to be added via ESRI’s ArcIMS software. Additionally, a new technical support ticketing system has been implemented along with various user management tools.

What’s on the horizon? Look for an “EAST Alumni – Where are they now?” page, a “Contribute News and Photos” page, and a wide assortment of training materials.
