Thanks in part to a $500 grant from Entergy, the EAST technical support team will soon begin offering virtual on-site technical support to the over 200 EAST classrooms. The length of time to resolve technical issues and the expense of travel associated with on-site technical visits is expected to be sharply reduced. Virtual support is currently being implemented and is slated to begin in October.

Because resolution is not the sole purpose behind EAST technical support, EAST technicians don’t simply tell students which buttons to push. Our technicians serve as catalysts in the students’ problem solving process, realizing that there is a great value in asking students to take the lead. In an EAST classroom learning opportunities never stop, even at times of a technical crisis.

EAST Virtual Onsite Support will utilize NetworkStreaming’s SupportDesk Lite. This software allows remote access while maintaining high security levels. Once access is established, members of the EAST technical support staff will be able to see the desktop of EAST students, allowing them to fully visualize the problem at hand and assist in the troubleshooting process.

The EAST Initiative is proud to partner with Entergy, a corporation who has with a long history of support for the community, and believes that reinvesting in the communities where we live and work will enhance the vitality and quality of life in those areas that are, in large part, responsible for our success.
