Macomb High School received a $25,000 grant from the Library of Congress to conduct interviews with local Veterans. We focused on WW2 in an event held at our school last night. History students conducted interviews, and EAST students worked hard as the technical team to record these interviews. 25 Veterans came and we did 14 videos and 11 audio recordings. The men shared stories about the war and their lives after returning home. It was an amazing event, one that I know the students and teachers who were involved will not soon forget. We plan to conduct these interviews every year, focusing on a different war each time.

I think we'll do another WW2 night sometime in late March because of the age and health of many WW2 vets. Next year we have a new focus. The Video/Audio clips (averaging 30-40 minutes in length) will be sent the Library of Congress. We will make copies for the families of the men interviewed. The EAST classroom is compiling a documentary to be sent to our local PBS station, and to be shown next year at a Veteran's Day assembly.
