The 2015 EAST Founder’s Award recipients from Harrisburg Middle School had the opportunity to tell Governor Hutchinson and Senator Chesterfield about some of the work they accomplished this year.

The 2015 EAST Founder’s Award recipients from Harrisburg Middle School had the opportunity to tell Governor Hutchinson and Senator Linda Chesterfield about some of the work they accomplished this school year. Their work includes an emergency response app and QR code system which they developed for their school in collaboration with their local police department.

Because they are geographically located on top of Crowley’s Ridge and the New Madrid fault line, students used geospatial analysis to develop emergency preparedness maps. The maps were presented to their county’s Office of Emergency Management and to local city officials.

We are extremely proud of the kids from Harrisburg Middle School for all of their hard work. We also applaud their facilitator, Mrs. Karla Garrison, for her outstanding guidance.
