The EAST Initiative is pleased to announce receipt of a $1,000 grant from the Arkansas Users of Telecommunications and Information Systems (AUTIS) for the second consecutive year.

EAST Initiative staff members Reuben Canada and Tim Van Dusen accepted the award Tuesday at the Technology Conference and Grant Awards Ceremony in North Little Rock, Ark.

AUTIS is a long-time sponsor of the EAST Conference and has been a proponent of the EAST education model for several years. The 2014 grant will be used to purchase a MakerBot Replicator 3D printer to address the critical need for access and training in emerging technologies. This can have a significant influence on the number of students exposed to critical STEM skills. In 2013, EAST used the AUTIS grant to purchase new Launchpad devices that were introduced to EAST classrooms this school year.

"With continued sponsorship from AUTIS and other generous sponsors, EAST successfully reaches thousands of students and educators from across the nation each year," said Dr. Angela Kremers, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy for the EAST Initiative. "As a national non-profit, we could not do it without this generous support."
