This summer EAST schools around Arkansas will again participate in the EICP (EAST Integrated Community Enhancement Program). This is the fifth year for this grant program that expands student learning and civic engagement outside of the traditional school day and into the summer. The program, made possible by a grant for the Arkansas Department of Education, allows EAST programs to concentrate on in-depth projects in ways that they sometimes cannot during the course of the standard school day. The recipients of this year’s grants and the projects that they will be undertaking are:

  1. Alpena High School - Arkansas Cemetery Mapping and Database Project
  2. Lakeside High School (Hot Springs) - National Park Trail Mapping Project
  3. Jessieville High School - Basic Computer Skills and Maintenance Project
  4. Malvern High School - The Arkansas Learning Management System Project
  5. Osceola High School - Beautification/Landscaping Project
  6. Vilonia High School - RiverTech Project

This grant program has produced some incredible student projects over the past five years and we are all excited about the potential of this year’s projects. A public exhibition of this year’s work is being planned for the end of the summer. As always, EAST students continue to excel!
