Nettleton High School EAST students were recently involved with the 2010 Miracle Rodeo, sponsored by the Craighead County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol and held on October 24 at the Craighead County Fairgrounds. 100 special needs and handicapped students from the Jonesboro area participated in the simulated rodeo.

The student volunteers worked on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Volunteers assisted in registering students, worked at different stations of the simulated rodeo, helped participants one-on-one to get around to the different stations, took group and individual pictures, helped with the petting zoo area, assisted the students getting on and off horses and wagons, painted faces, and helped with the set-up and clean-up.

The EAST students used their classroom skills and technologies to create materials for the event. They used Photoshop to design posters, create welcome signs and edit western images for hand painted signs. The posters were printed using the classroom's HP designjet 500 printer. An EAST project manager created volunteer sign-up lists in Microsoft Word and enlisted fellow students to participate.
