Raider Ready!: Nettleton High School 11-12

Project Goal – What is the outcome/deliverable?:

A map of our school district's telephone extension location has been created for 911. This map will be used by 911 dispatchers if Nettleton was in an emergency situation. After research, Nettleton students developed evacuation routes for their own homes by using Sketch-Up and Archicad.

Purpose of Project – Who is the project helping and what is the project about?:

The purpose of the plan is to prepare our schools, homes, and our communityl for any emergency that occurs.The fact that disasters can happen any where, at any time can be scary. The better prepared our school, our homes, and our community, the safer we will be.

Future Plans:

A safety video for all of schools in Nettleton district is still a work in progress. These will be shown to all teachers and substitute teachers to inform them of the district's procedures for emergency situations. Practice drills and procedures will be shown in the elementary classrooms.

Additional Information:

Students have been working with Linda Graham, Crisis Coordinator, Jeff Presley, 911 Dispatch Coordinator, Jack Sample, direct SRO, and the Nettleton Public School District to increase awareness of ways to be prepare for natural disasters in our community. These are several of the projects that students have worked on for our National Service Project that will impact our school and community.
