Tuesday Night Activities

We have made changes to the agenda for this year's event and one of those changes happens specifically on Tuesday.  This year we will not have a scheduled Parent's Night.  We hope that you will invite parents to come to the Conference to experience the exhibit hall floor in its entirety on Wednesday, February 20 and then also invite them to stay for the Banquet.  Also, we will be shutting down the exhibit hall floor so that booth judging can take place and the documentation team can begin documenting the exhibit hall floor design.

We want you to take time on Tuesday night to relax and have a little fun before the next morning when anxieties are high and all of our feet begin to hurt.  Tuesday after the Opening Plenary begins an evening out with your school.

We are pleased to announce that two locations in Hot Springs are offering special activities for EAST Conference participants at discounted rates.  Details follow.

Maxwell Blade - Theatre of Magic
Tuesday, February 19 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Ticket Price - $10 per person

Distance from Convention Center - 2-3 blocks

There is a limit of 225 seats available.  To reserve your tickets, email Melanie Ridlon your school or organizations name and the number of tickets requested by January 18th.  You will pay for your reserved tickets during on-site registration earlier that day.  All payments (cash or check only) must be received by 3:00 PM.  After 3:00 PM unpaid tickets will be available for purchase.

Mid-America Science Museum
Tuesday, February 19 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Ticket Price - $5 per person

Distance from Convention Center - Approximately 7 miles

There is an unlimited number of admission tickets available.  To reserve your tickets, email Melanie Ridlon your school or organizations name and the number of tickets needed by January 18th.  You will pay (cash or check only) for your reserved tickets from 1:00-3:00 PM.  Unreserved tickets are also available for purchase until 3:00 PM.  Tickets can also be purchased at the museum that evening.  Please be sure to reserve tickets so I can provide an estimated head count to the museum and they will know the number of staff they need to have available.  Thank you.

Shuttle - A shuttle will be provided for transportation from the convention center to the museum and back.  No shuttle will be provided for the Theatre of Magic because it is within walking distance.  If you would like to utilize the shuttle, please let me know when you RSVP your tickets as there are limited seats available.  If you do not RSVP you will not be able to use the shuttle.

Please check out their websites for more information on both locations.  The two activites are optional, but we hope that you will plan to take advantage of these opportunities.  This would be a good chance for students to interact with other EAST students in a casual and relaxed setting.
